Dr. Millicent M. Grim

Specialist Ophthalmologist & LASIK Specialist

Dr. Millicent graduated in Medicine as well as Ophthalmology from the Medical School of the University of Pretoria in South Africa, and has a Tropical Medicine & Hygiene Diploma from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg. She was associate head of Department of Ophthalmology at The Pretoria Academic Hospitals and did numerous rural eye tours providing cataract and other surgical care in underserved regions.
She was a locum Consultant Ophthalmologist in the Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline, as well as Victoria Hospital in Kirkaldy, Scotland, before taking up the challenge in 1996 to start the new Eye Department of the Al Shatti Hospital in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman, in what was then the first Comprehensive Consultant based Private Hospital in the country. As Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist she introduced Refractive Surgery to the country of Oman in 1997, as well as several new eye procedures in Private Practice. The Al Shatti Eye Department grew to be the biggest and most profitable in the whole hospital, with several Specialists on staff, and Visiting Specialists from Germany, Egypt, South Africa and Jordan, among others.
She moved to Dubai in 2002 to set up the
Gulf Eye Center in the Fairmont Hotel's Office Suites.
She contributed to books on Pharmacology, Eye care in Sports Medicine, and published on Excimer Laser ablation on the back of the LASIK flap where limited tissue was available. She presented numerous scientific papers and posters at Ophthalmology meetings in South Africa, Oman, USA, Japan, and UAE. She attends and participates regularly in Ophthalmology meetings in country and abroad.
She was the first Ophthalmologist to introduce CCCL (Corneal Collagen Cross Linking) for Keratoconus and NearVisionCK©® for Presbyopia, in the UAE.

Dr. Yara L'teif
Dr. Yara Lteif graduated in Medicine and Ophthalmology from the Medical School of Saint Joseph University in Beirut. She did a 3 years training in the most renowned ophthalmology hospitals in Paris (Quinze-Vingts, Saint-Joseph hospital and Rothschild Foundation) and obtained a Higher Subspecialty Certificate in Ophthalmology and Ophthalmic Surgery (A.F.S. and A.F.S.A.) from Pierre and Marie Curie University (Paris).
She is fellow of the European Board of Ophthalmology and has obtained diplomas in Glaucoma (Angers University, France) and in Infectious and Inflammatory Ocular diseases(Xavier Bichat University, Paris). She also presented numerous scientific papers and posters at Ophthalmology meetings in Europe (SFO and ESCRS) and U.S.A (ARVO), and published papers in international peer reviewed journals.
Dr. Yara speaks Arabic, French and English fluently, and speaks and writes Italian with basic competence.

Dr. Rachelle O.D.
Dr. Rachelle graduated with a degree of Doctor of Optometry in the Philippines. She studied in Centro Escolar University, a school that specializes in Optometry. She passed the Philippine Licensure Board Exam in 1998 and the DOH Licensure in Dubai, UAE in 2003.She manages patient's primary eyecare health including diagnosis and treatment of visual problems (like myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, Presbyopia).
She has an extensive experience in both optical and clinical optometry. This includes clinical refraction (subjective and Cycloplegic refraction), soft contact lens fitting (toric) and orthoptic assessment. She prescribes corrective glasses and contact lens. She is knowledgeable in different types of ophthalmic lenses as well as contact lenses. She performs Pre-Lasik and CK assessment test which includes subjective refraction, OPD Scan, corneal topography and contrast sensitivity.
She joined Gulf Eye Center in July 2006, and is a valuable member of staff.
Dr. Yasmin O.D.
Dr. Yasmin is a graduate of the optometry doctorate program at the University of Montreal in Canada, and has been working at the Gulf Eye Center since September 2005. She is Canadian and American Board certified, and remains an active member of the Ontario College of Optometrists by working in Canada every year in order to maintain her status.
Dr. Yasmin conducts thorough comprehensive eye examinations which include refraction for spectacle correction and the diagnosis and treatment of ocular disease. She also performs all types of contact lens fittings including specialty fittings for keratoconus and post graft. Other fields of specialty include the assessment and treatment of binocular vision and low vision.
